During the day, Peri transforms into Amy M. Young – a versatile indie author, podcaster, photographer, and musician. When night falls, Peri assumes the role of an avid variety gamer who fearlessly dives into a diverse range of gaming experiences, from nostalgic 8-bit DOS games to action-packed FPS and immersive MMORPGs.

With an ever-evolving virtual avatar, Peri’s gaming adventures know no bounds.

I’ve been gaming since I was a child, always fascinated by the immersive worlds and thrilling adventures that awaited me on the other side of the screen. Whether it was conquering kingdoms in fantasy role-playing games or saving the world from alien invasions in action-packed shooters, gaming has always been a source of excitement and joy for me.

When I was a kid, my mom took me to this cool arcade place and oh boy, I was blown away! Those flashy screens and awesome machines had me totally hooked. I couldn’t get enough of playing those games, it was like pure magic!

Two of my all-time favorite arcade games were Joust and Marble Madness. In Joust, I would mount my trusty ostrich and engage in intense aerial battles against other knights. It was a game that required both skill and strategy, and I would spend hours honing my jousting skills.

Marble Madness, on the other hand, took me on a completely different kind of adventure. I would guide a marble through treacherous obstacle courses, navigating narrow pathways, avoiding pitfalls, and racing against the clock. The game required precise control and a steady hand, making every playthrough a test of dexterity and focus. The challenge was exhilarating, and the satisfaction of completing a level was immensely rewarding.

These arcade classics hold a special place in my heart, as they were a gateway to a world of gaming that captivated me from the very beginning. The memories of those days spent in the arcade, feeling the rush of excitement with every game, are etched in my mind forever. They are a reminder of the joy and wonder that gaming can bring, and why it has become such an integral part of my life.

And I can’t forget my first gaming console, can I?

Brace yourself for some serious nostalgia, folks! Picture this: a young and innocent me, bestowed with the almighty NES by none other than my late paternal grandfather. Oh, the memories!

From those pixelated adventures to the unforgettable “blow on the cartridge” technique, that little gray box was my gateway into the gaming universe. It’s like discovering a secret treasure map that leads straight to a magical kingdom of pixels and button-mashing! Of course, I couldn’t resist the siren call of PC gaming either. ASCII games? Heck yeah! Who knew typing commands like “look”, “open door”, and “pick up sword” could transport you to another dimension? And let’s not forget the kings of adventure – Space Quest and King’s Quest – where worms could talk and knights could be, well, not so knightly. Fast forward to today, and I’ve embraced every Nintendo console ever made (with the exception of the Virtual Boy. What were they thinking?), with a few love affairs with PlayStation and Xbox thrown into the mix. It’s been a wild ride, filled with joy and nostalgia. So here’s to gaming, the ultimate time machine that lets you relive your childhood and embark on epic virtual quests.

Game on!
